LEMI
Classification: Handgun
Based on: CZ 2075 RAMI
Summary:
The in-game depiction is almost spot on, though it looks a little too big in Ethans hands. It's also bizarre that the game incorporates a dedicated extended magazine, when an already larger CZ 75 magazine would've been suitable.
Other noticeable differences include: the trigger guard having slightly the wrong shape, the front sight post being reversed, an incorrectly angled rear slide serration, no beaver tail. The pistol also has a redesigned safety, hammer, and slide release. These are all very nit-picky but can be clearly seen.
In all fairness to Capcom, the in-game gun is a decent representation.
1911
Classification: Handgun
Based on: PT1911
Summary:
This is an odd one. It’s a spot-on model of a Taurus PT1911, however, that is not the specific model of 1911 that should realistically exist in game. It has old-style grip panels, dark metal finish and a seven-round magazine - all these give it away. I think they were trying to depict a World War II era American military M1911. A relic left behind by G.I.s during the war, this pistol certainly is not, though. Modern Taurus 1911s are blackened, including the polymer grip panels and they have a more modern eight-round capacity magazine.
Why they chose the Tauras 1911, when there would have been better models to copy, I couldn’t say.
A final issue is that this weapon should be the most powerful of the basic handguns, but that is not so.
V61 Custom
Classification: Handgun
Based on: sa vz. 61 Škorpion
Summary:
This submachine gun is considered a handgun but is used as a sort of carbine rifle. Its calibre is unknown, but it must be either a .380 ACP or 9x18mm Makarov export model. The original .32 ACP chambering never offered a twelve-round magazine - something that the in-game version has.
Based on damage output I presume it is 9x18mm, though for some reason this is represented as still being more powerful than the .45 calibre 1911.
The base weapon model is very good, but the attachments and upgrades are downright wacky. The ludicrous long barrel, silly drum magazine and miniaturised Dragunov stock are all nonsense. This is a compact submachine gun for a reason and jamming all these items on it defeats its realistic purpose. Why the wooden stock is even required is unknown, as there is already a standard wire stock on the weapon, clearly fixed across the top of the weapon. Ethan, however, can never unfold it to use it: not even recognising that it's there. Worst still, the Duke charges him to have it removed and replaced.
Finally the fire rate is abysmal compared with the real-life offering. It should zip rather than chug.
Samurai Edge - AW Model-01
Classification: Handgun
Based on: 92FS
Summary:
This unlockable weapon is basically a beautiful, custom, two-tone Beretta 92FS, but with a load of junk stuck on it. There are numerous inconsistencies compared to a genuine 92FS, the most notable being the whole front assembly, which includes a massive suppressor - that doesn't even act as a suppressor. There is also torch attached and, on the rear, an extended beaver tail.
Other issues include the weapons very poor damage output and its puny nine-round capacity. Its 9x19mm Parabellum ammunition should hit pretty hard, while it should also have a fifteen-round capacity. The fact it cannot be upgraded simply makes it more of joke or novelty weapon rather than a practical one.
USM-AI
Classification: Handgun
Based on: USW-A1
Summary:
A very good representation of the real USW-A1, with a desert finish. The USW-A1 was designed as a close quarters combat pistol - an alternative to a traditional carbine. As such it comes with a threaded barrel for mounting suppressors, folding stock, red dot sight, lower mounted rail, and attachable torch. The game and real-world versions share all these features. It's a brilliant effort, with not much else to say.
M1851 Wolfsbane
Classification: Magnum
Based on: Colt (various models)
Produced by: Unknown
Summary:
This is a made-up firearm. But no doubt, is very cool. The weapon shows signs of numerous Colts that have all been mashed together. The frame is similar to a Colt 1851 Navy, the ram lever is similar to a Colt 1860 Army - though why the ram lever is still there, considering the metallic cartridges is unknown. It also seems to have a Colt 1873 Single Action Army cylinder - with an incorrect five or seven round capacity, and finally has what appears to be a Colt 1847 Walker trigger guard.
On top of this it seems to be a cartridge converted firearm, but in a way not really, as its cylinder has been completely replaced rather than drilled through. The weapon was once clearly an old-style cap and ball revolver; identifiable due to the ram lever fixed below the barrel. A Colt Peacemaker cylinder has been fixed into the pistol and its old cylinder has presumably discarded. It's also had its barrel re-bored to fire the unidentifiable fifty-caliber ammo.
No old Colt was ever chambered for a .50 calibre cartridge. A best guess would be that this revolver is firing .500 Smith & Wesson, due mainly to its crazy high damage. However, there are two main issues with this theory. The first is that the weapon would disintegrate if it tried to fire anything so powerful as 19th Century firearms' metal work would not have been anywhere near sturdy enough to take the stress of such a powerful cartridge. The second issue is that .500 S&W did not exist until the early 2000s, meaning it couldn't have been converted to a cartridge that didn't exist. Nothing so potent, in .50 calibre, existed in the 19th Century. So why the weapon is so powerful remains a mystery. Them 19th century Romanian weaponsmiths could certainly knock up one hell of a wildcat cartridge it seems.
Attachment issues include the aforementioned ram lever. It was common to convert these to ejection levers when these old pistols were cartridge converted, however that is not the case here, it is just there. No longer needed. Ethan instead simply wills spent casing out of the gun with the power of his mind. Realistically, this is impossible; fired cases expand and hug the walls of the cylinder, meaning you need to forcefully eject them. Speaking of the cylinder, that is also a problem. It has a five-round, or upgraded seven-round, capacity. Only six rounders were ever made for the Colt 1873 and these were never in a .50 calibre. At seven rounds, the walls of the cylinder would be far too thin and would rupture immediately.
All simply put, this weapon has a bunch of head-scratching issues. But if you accept them, in the name of fun, this weapon is one of the most enjoyable in the game.
Handcannon PZ
Classification: Magnum
Based on: BFR (Big Frame Revolver)
Summary:
This one is a nice addition to the game and there is very little visually wrong with it. Save for its barrel, which is much longer then a real BFR's. It also has the exact same questionable reload method as seen with the Wolfsbane. Except this time it is inexcusable as there is a ejection rod right there. On the side of the barrel. However, it is ignored and once more Ethan deploys his telekinesis.
The fact is uses rifle ammo is a nice touch though, even if it is the wrong kind. In reality the BFR fires .45-70 Gov't or .30-30 Winchester, both full size rifle cartridges. I presume the sniper rifle ammo found in-game to be .308/7.62mm, due to its use in the bolt action rifle. This is an issue shared with the handguns, where their ammunition pool is a catch-all system, .45-70 and .30-30 are certainly not sniper cartridges though.
So the ammunition available is not quite right, but it's nice to see that the developers did their homework and understood this massive revolver somewhat. Due to its use of .45-70 or .30-30 it should be the clear winner for raw power in game, however, presumably for balancing reasons it is not quite. As sniper rifle ammo is semi common the revolver received a small damage decrease.
Fallout fans may recognise this beast as the Ranger Sequoia.
S.T.A.K.E.
Classification: Magnum
Based on: Wildey Hunter
Summary:
Likely named due to its ability to easily slay the vampiric creatures found in the castle, and just about anything else unlucky enough to stumble across its sights. The weapon is clearly a Wildey magnum.
Though it has a few noticeable differences. The first is that even though it has the barrel design of the fourteen-inch model, it appears to have been squashed down to instead depict the eight version. It also has incorrect serration on the slide and an incorrect trigger guard. Lastly, it has the wrong magazine capacity, starting with ten rounds in a flush fitting seven-round magazine.
Besides these few minor errors though the weapon is well replicated, even if its power is exaggerated somewhat.
Rocket Pistol
Classification: Explosive
Weapon
Based on: Gyrojet Mark 1 Model B
Summary:
Last is a gun that you may be thinking is pure fantasy, concocted by the design team at Capcom, however, this pistol is based on a real design.
Its minor inaccuracies are a shortened trigger guard, incorrect muzzle, inaccurate capacity of seven rockets - the real version only holding six, and the explosive projectiles. In reality the "rocket" aspect refers only to the propulsion system, the projectiles should not explode like they do in-game.
It's just a shame this weapon is disappointment and genuinely not worth using. Kind of like a genuine Gyrojet Mark 1 Model B. Its rockets are very slow and are greatly underpowered compared to the magnums on offer.
Out of all the weapons in the game. This is by far the most interesting and I urge anyone interested to check them out online. They have some genuinely interesting history surrounding them.
