EVIL DEAD: THE GAME - Mission 3 - Quick Guide

Hail to the King, baby!

Article by: Niall Cawley

You begin this mission just outside of Faison Farm. You need to head into the farm and grab a car to head for your first object. Before you do though, gather as many supplies possible. Around the farm are enough to max out your reserved healing items, shield items and rifle ammo, though, there is no melee weapon. Quickly sprint around - I say quickly as there are only twelve minutes to complete this mission, a rather tight time restriction. If it takes you longer than a couple of minutes to loot, simply restart and try again. You don't really have much more than those initial two minutes to spare here.

Once you're loaded up, get in the Delta and set off, but make sure you set off carefully. Go as quickly as possible but be smooth on the steering. The car will get you there quick enough, but any rough driving will likely tip the car or destroy it, both rendering it useless. If you wreck the car before the second objective, restart - you need the car for the boss there.

Just outside of the field, where your first objective lies, park the car on the road. Enter the field on foot and activate the objective. Now you'll need to defeat twelve deadites to progress. Even though you will have no melee weapon at this point, the rifle is perfectly fine for this section.

Stay frosty and keep spinning the camera until you see a portal appear. As a deadite spawns, kill them. Try to get a headshot for an instant kill. After each kill, try to do a reload, then and there, regardless of the rifle's remaining ammo. You need to keep as much ammo in the gun as possible, at all times. Reloading now that you have a second to breathe, rather than when you're being beat on, is the best tactic.

Remember that you need to stay on your toes; constantly looking for the next portal to spit a deadite out. If you start to miss them, the deadites will spawn faster than you can kill them, leading to them swarming you. This Ash only has a single dodge available, making manoeuvring away from enemies' rapid-fire attacks almost impossible. If you do begin to get overrun, sprint away to make some space. With limited stamina and no melee weapon, close quarters combat is not advised.

Soon enough you'll have done it. Gather up any ammo to replenish your stocks and hopefully you still have all of your healing and shield items, you'll need them. If you have used most, or all of them, restart now and try again from the start.

Next is an area that is easily the hardest part of the whole mission. You're sent to a second field so drive there immediately, again very carefully. When you make it there, don't trigger the battle just yet. Go to the open work shed and pick up the axe. There are other melee weapons here, but the axe is hands down your best option. Now, you can trigger the battle. This time you'll need to face nine deadites; eight regular grunts and one (frankly OP) strong Eligos demon. I'm sure it's this particular demon that brings you to this guide.

Going forward in this fight, try to kill all the grunts with the axe as it's usually powerful enough to kill them with a single hit. You'll see the rifle though now requires two shots per deadite. Keep an eye out for the strong deadite and as soon as he spawns get back in the car and use it to ram him. It won't kill him but will obliterate roughly half his health bar. From here evade him and mop up any remaining grunts that may still live. When only the strong deadite remains, go straight in with the axe. His health bar is ludicrous, so even though he has been run over at this point, he'll still need a fair few axe swings to bring down. Hit him with a combo of heavy attacks. Obviously also try to keep out of the way of his insanely powerful attacks, but if you are hit don't fret - you can use up all of your healing/shield items here. This guy is easily the most difficult part of this mission, so use whatever supplies you need. When he is dead, head back to the shed and gather any ammo you need.

If you ignored my previous warnings to restart, progressed on, and defeated him anyway; well done!

From here you'll need to sprint to the final objective, over at the trailer park. Make sure you sprint because time is of the essence. There are no enemies on the map so you're safe to just run, just keep an eye out for possessed trees.

When you reach the trailer park, keep to the outskirts of the objective marker. Circle it and eventually you'll come across a caravan that has supplies outside. Grab what you need, but make sure you keep the axe as it's still the best opinion at this point.

Now to begin the final fight. This time you'll be tasked with killing only four deadites; three grunts and Eligos himself. To defeat Eligos, simple trap him in a loop by kiting him around an object. One of the trailers or another large piece of set dressing. Kill the grunts as and when they are thrown at you, Eligos will otherwise hang back and throw lighting. Use your chosen cover to block it - or dodge it if he does catch you out in the open - and then hit back with the rifle. After he attacks, he briefly stuns himself, providing a perfect opportunity to retaliate. Afterwards he will teleport to another location.
Like the first object, spin 'til you spot and then move around your cover so it is again between you and him. Sometimes he will teleport in close and lock you in place with a grapple. This move is quite powerful, but nowhere near as powerful as the second encounter's Eligos' attacks and it can be dodged. As Eligos likes to mostly attack from afar and only sets three cronies on you, this final encounter is quite easy - especially if you made it here with spare supplies. He takes a lot of bullets but will eventually die. Take the opportunity to melee him, when possible too, to save ammo too.

Using this strategy I finished the level with a little over a minute spare.

You may have to attempt this a few times before it clicks. However, after a few tries, I found this to be my best method.
